Description   McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey is an unusual bottling: made on the West Coast, it is distilled from a fermented mash of peat-malted Scottish barley fermented by the Widmer Brothers Brewing Company and then aged for three years; though made in America, it follows in the tradition of Islay Scotch Whisky. It is crafted using one pass distillation--making large cuts of heads and tails--resulting in a full, flavorful, yet smooth spirit. The distillate is then aged in old sherry casks. Since Clear Creek began making McCarthy's in the 1990s, it has gradually gained significant acclaim. In 2004, Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible gave it the award of "Best Small Batch Whiskey" with a score of 94. That same year, Michael Jackson put it on his list "The Ten Best American Whiskeys" published in both Men's Journal (December 2004) and The Malt Advocate (1st quarter 2005). In the 2006 edition, Jim Murray wrote "McCarthy's has earned a place among the world's elite whiskeys," and the 2008 edition gave it a 96. Product of New York Alcohol by Volume: 46%
