Description

Gold Medal - San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2008

Created at the Matter Distillery near Bern, Mansinthe was co-developed by master distiller Olivier Matter and Marilyn Manson. Manson has been an avid absintheur for many years, and was deeply involved in the development of this well-crafted spirit. From tasting samples to providing critiques and lending his artwork to the label, he is following in the tradition of controversial artists inspired by the green fairy.

Mansinthe uses an array of botanicals--including wormwood, green anise, and Florence fennel seed--and the distillate is reduced to its bottling strength using water from the Alps.

The result is an unusual absinthe of compelling complexity. It is a vibrant natural green with light blue reflections in the glass, and the slow-forming louche is opaque and opalescent. Musky, earthy aromas of alpine herbs and flowers introduce a rounded, savory, buttery palate with a refreshing and lasting finish.

NOTE: Glass and spoon not included.

Duplais-Lite December 6, 2009
Reviewer: Stanley P. Kachowski from Pittsburgh, PA United States
Despite the convenient association with M.M. aka Brian Warner, this is good 'sinthe .  Made by the same people/distillery as Duplais absinthes, this is similar if not quite as complex and elegant ...(if you like Mansinthe you DEFINETLY want to order some Duplais Verte ! )  I think of Mansinthe as Duplais-lite because that's basically, what it is ... but good in its own ways !

Rather Good December 3, 2009
Reviewer: koikomoru from walnut creek, CA United States
This absinth by Marilyn Manson was a pleasant surprise.  Manson has crated a sophisticated absinth, that when the sugar and water are added the louge becomes nice and milky white.

The taste is not overwhelming but rather pleasant. I will definitely purchase again.

Great choice for first timers or veterans. April 26, 2009
Reviewer: Chris Clady from Portland, OR United States
Mind/body effect of first glass was very pleasant. Just grooOvY.
Taste wise after trying several brands including 5 on DUNY, I found this most similar to Lucid, which I would consider a good, basic bar absinthe. The difference,Mansinthe having a more earthy, mossy quality.Very smooth & drinkable. More geared toward a person who appreciates absinthe flavor.
Smart move for the artist, as I only buy a CD once, but would be happy to buy this product over & over again.Putting ones name on a quality product no more gimmicky than Johnnie Walker or JD.
At least 4 stars, & well above others in this price range.

An excellent absinthe, despite grin-inducing name November 14, 2008
Reviewer: Benjamin Lopez from The Absinthe Review Network
Assertive and full-flavoured coriander and hyssop for a spicy
smoothness, highly aromatic, and not too complex, so it serves as a great newcomer
absinthe.  The bottom line here is that there is no denying the tastiness of
Mansinthe.  Really, how could you after Manson has poured his very soul (and perhaps
something else) into this creation?
