La Fée Absinthe Parisienne was the first traditional absinthe distilled in France after the 1915 ban was lifted. Available for years in the UK but only just released in the United States, it makes an excellent introduction to this notorious libation.

La Fée’s botanicals contain all of the traditional components of a fine absinthe: wormwood, green anise, star anise, hyssop, and fennel. Careful maceration during copper pot still distillation ensures abundant aromas, concentrated flavor, and an attractive louche. Every batch is personally approved by renowned absinthe expert Marie-Claude Delahaye. She has stated, "La Fée captures the aroma and taste that great writers and artists such as Rimbaud, Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh enjoyed at the end of the 19th century." La Fée is also the only absinthe authenticated by the Musee de l’Absinthe in Auvers-sur-Oise, France.

For a limited time, each bottle shipped by DrinkUpNY will include a stainless steel La Fée eye design spoon and a miniature information booklet.

Thumbs up!! July 11, 2008

My husband and I received a bottle of this Absinthe for a wedding gift recently and I have to say I didn't think it was something I would enjoy, but I did greatly! My husband is a big fan for licorice flavored drinks, so needless to say he truely enjoyed.

Put This Last on Your List June 6, 2008
Reviewer: T Bone from United States
I was pumped about another absinthe in the US, until this arrived.  The artificial color raised a big red flag, and for good reason.  Yeah it has wormwood, anise, and a few other spices.  But overall it is nothing special.  If you want value go with the Kubler.  And if you have some extra $, definitely go with the St. George's.  That's the best you're gonna find in the US today.   I'd give it 4/5 stars.

Reviewer: Anthony Cagno from Gibsonia, PA United States
This used to be considered good before the truely good high-end absinthes burst upon the scene. It's no better than "good" Spanish absinthes. Listen, these same guys promote Czech swill; please don't ever consider this, for the sake of the inexperienced as well as your reputation.   btw, St. Geo.- 3.5 to 4. Now this stuff is not only the way good absinthe should be overall, it's got a uniqueness to  it -maybe it's the stinging nettles. I drank 1/2 bottle over the rocks the first 2 days after I broke my ankle (on Sun.) which made it all worthwhile.                                                       TC
