Glenmorangie Astar starts with careful cask control. The American oak used in their cooperage comes from slow-growth oak grown in the Ozark mountains. After the barrels are assembled, they are air-dried—rather than kiln-dried—for at least two years. They are then filled with Tennessee whiskey and left to mature for four more years. Finally, the casks are shipped to the Glenmorangie distillery for use in the slow maturation of their whisky. Their careful cask control has a tremendous influence on the resulting spirit, creating a particularly enticing dram.

Astar is a concentrated whisky, melding bright citrus fruit, honey, vanilla, coconut, almond, and baking spice in a palate more mature than its ten years.
