In the late 1800s, Paul Jones Jr., the founder of Four Roses Bourbon, fell in love with a beautiful Southern belle. He proposed to her, and she replied that if her answer were "Yes," she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming ball. Paul Jones waited excitedly for her answer on the night of the ball, and when she arrived, she wore a corsage of four red roses. He later named his bourbon "Four Roses" as a symbol of his love for his wife. He transferred this devotion into his bourbon production, using quality ingredients to create various recipes for his handcrafted spirit.
Four Roses is the only bourbon distillery that combines five proprietary yeast strains with two separate mashbills to produce ten distinct, handcrafted recipes, each with its own unique character and flavor profile. Hand-selected by Master Distiller Jim Rutlege, Four Roses 2012 Barrel Strength Bourbon is a remarkable expression crafted from twelve year old OBSK and twelve year old OESK, as well as eleven and seventeen year old OBSV. This barrel strength, non-chill filtered release opens with aromas of creamy vanilla and citrus fruit, accented by notes of allspice, nutmeg and tobacco. The spicy, medium-bodied palate offers layered notes of orange peel, raspberry, dark chocolate and caramel, which merge with hints of cedar and vanilla on the long, mellow finish.
