Located just south of the town of Healdsburg, Foppiano Vineyards sits on a 160-acre estate in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, known as one of the most esteemed wine regions in the world. The family planted Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other grape varieties that thrive in this temperate coastal region. Today the grandson of patriarch Louis J. Foppiano, Paul Foppiano manages the vineyard and maintains superior vineyard practices. They have been farming their land sustainably by limiting pesticide use and providing the highest level of care and maintenance. The family’s favorite wine, Petite Sirah has also become Foppiano’s flagship offering, known nationwide as one of the country’s top Petite Sirahs each vintage.
Foppiano Vineyards Russian River Valley Estate Petite Sirah is created from 100% estate grow Petite Shirah and aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak and 70% neutral oak. The result is a deep, dark, inky red colored wine offering rich aromas of blueberry and dark chocolate with subtle earth hints. The mouthfeel is lush with notes of brambly berry, blueberry, dark chocolate, spice and supple tannins with a delightfully long finish.
"The 2012 Petite Sirah Estate, a long-time speciality of this winery, is a beautifully made wine displaying pure blueberry and black raspberry fruit as well as hints of camphor, incense and white flowers. Full-bodied with civilized tannins, an incremental, lush, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long finish, it is approachable now, but will keep 10-15, possibly 20 years. This long-established winery seems to have a sensible approach to offering value." - Wine Advocate
