Description   Vines have been cultivated on the Fontodi Estate since the era of the Roman Empire, and vinification has occurred on the site since the 16th century. Today, vinification is extremely modern, utilizing temperature-controlled fermentation tanks and gravitational transferring. The carefully handled wines are then aged in Allier and Troncais barriques for 12 months. Fontodi Chianti Classico is a consistently excellent wine across vintages, and exemplifies the tremendous potential of the region. The 2005 is a medium-bodied, aromatic red with excellent structure and perfectly integrated tannins. Notes of black currant, blackberry, red cherry, wildflower and fresh herbs extend across the nose and palate. Product of Italy Alcohol by Volume: 13.5%
