Description

Finger Lakes Distilling is the region's first stand-alone distillery. On summer evenings, one can hear the "Seneca Drums" rumbling over the still waters of Seneca Lake. Legend has it that it's a message from the Iroquois Native Americans who once inhabited the area, but skeptics believe it's just the result of geothermal reactions.

Seneca Drums Gin, named after this unique event, is an expressive, yet harmonious London-style dry gin. It is distilled from their own local grape spirit and blended with eleven different botanicals. The result is a crisp, fresh spirit with notes of citrus peel, juniper, cucumber, and clove.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! December 29, 2013

This is a wonderful gin.  The bottle may look cartoonish and silly, but the contents are anything but.  I received this as a Christmas present, and was excited to try it.  I love wine from this region, and having a gin from here was definitely something I wanted to do!

The juniper is really subtle, in fact I could barely notice it when I first tried this.  There is a lot of citrus up front, which I'd imagine comes from the grape base.  It's spicy, which I love.  Made it in a martini with a lemon twist, and it was absolutely fantastic.  Will definitely purchase again.

And Now for Something Completely Different... February 25, 2010
Reviewer: Christopher Carlsson, http://www.spiritsreview.com from Rochester, NY United States
Not your father's (or mother's) gin. Juniper is not the first and defining characteristic. Lots of citrus (lemon and orange) followed by juniper and a good dose of cloves and anise and some cardamom and coriander lingering around the edges. Net result is a much more aromatic, dry gin than usual.

Taste: Medium to heavy body played off by the aromatic and spicy characteristics. Pleasantly heavy or weighty mouth feel from the grape base and cucumber influence rounds out the gin, giving it a almost fatty mouthfeel, lovely. A much more savory and citrus feel than a lot of gins. Juniper is there but so are a lot of other citrus, spice, and aromatic herbs. Very clean distillation.
A very praiseworthy attempt at creating at completely different gin. Cheap compared to all its competitors and a must have for the discerning gin connoisseur.
