90 Points - Wine Advocate
Established in 1946, the headquarters of the Guigal Estate is located in Ampuis, a small ancient village in the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Their dedication to cultivating only high quality fruit is apparent in their wines - they harvest from the finest vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint Joseph, Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage. No pesticides, herbicides or chemicals are used in the vineyards, and they prune low and strictly limit the number of shoots per vine, allowing for for natural balance and concentration of their wines. Their traditional vinification approach includes minimal intervention, natural yeast fermentation, and no fining or filtration, resulting in wines of great complexity and refinement.
An elegant blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvedre and Syrah, E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rose offers an expressive nose brimming with fresh notes of raspberry, cherry and citrus fruit. The palate is firm and focused, with bright fruit notes complemented by hints of tobacco and earth. A light mineral note emerges on the intriguing finish.
"One of the finest roses from this team yet, the 2015 Cotes du Rhone Rose from Guigal (60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah) is a downright classy beauty that gives up lots of white cherry, currants and floral notes in a medium-bodied, ultra pure and seamless style. It will keep nicely for 6-12 months." - Wine Advocate
