A family estate created at the start of the 1800s, Domaine Michel Lafarge is one of the most respected producers in all of Burgundy. In 1934, Lafarge was one of the very first estates to bottle their wines under their own label - estate bottling was virtually unheard of at the time, as all grapes and wine in that era were sold to the large negociant houses. In 2000, the domaine began the practice of biodynamic farming, and the estate has grown in recent years with the addition of 1er Cru parcels in Beaune and Volnay.

Composed of Pinot Noir and Gamay, Domaine Michel Lafarge "L'Exception" displays lovely aromas of cherry, raspberry and cranberry, accented by earthy minerals. The focused, fruit-forward palate is pleasantly tart with light spice notes leading to mineral-laced acidity and firm tannins.
