International Sake Challenge Bronze Medal – 2008

Established in 1865, the Dewatsuru brewery is located on the main island of Honshu, in the Akita region. This mountainous area is known for its heavy snowfalls, which directly effect sake production. When the warmer weather arrives, the snow melts and creates pristine rice paddies and clean, pure water. The snow also acts as an air purifier, filtering out any impurities that can be harmful to the sake.

Refined and elegant, this premium sake displays a pronounced aroma of fresh flowers, with underlying hints of melon and cherry. Incredibly smooth and slightly sweet, it is an excellent accompaniment to shellfish, but can also work well with rich foods and mildly spicy dishes.

Due to the delicate nature of this product, we highly recommend upgrading to overnight shipping if you live outside of our immediate delivery area (New York City, Long Island, Southeastern NY, CT, DE, MD, Washington DC, RI and Eastern PA); ideally, sake should be outside of refrigeration for as short a time as possible.
