Produced by the Wemyss family, Darnley's View Gin was created to honor the moment in 1565 when Mary Queen of Scots spied her future husband, Lord Darnley, through the courtyard window at Wemyss Castle. From this marriage came a prince who later united the thrones of England and Scotland - an event that inspired the Wemyss family to combine the best of English and Scottish distilling to create a unique gin.
Darnley's View is a small batch gin produced with six carefully selected botanicals that work together to create a delicate, yet flavorful spirit. The distinctive flavor profile stems from aromatic, oil-rich juniper berries sourced from Southern Europe, which are blended with lemon peels dried in the Spanish sunshine, as well as elderflowers sourced from the family's Scottish estate. These elements are then combined with coriander from Morocco, angelica root from France, and orris root from the Benelux countries in Western Europe. These added components contribute soft notes of ginger, sage and spice.
