Owned and operated by Xavier Chassagnoux, Chateau Virecourt is located between the villages of La Riviere, St. Germain La Riviere and Villegouge. Chateau Virecourt Pillebourse, named after the intersection of Pomerol, Saint Emilion and Fronsac, is produced from selected parcels of the property, using traditional methods of vinification and aging. This medium-bodied red, composed mostly of Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc, features lively notes of ripe raspberry and black currant, laced with sweet spice, light tobacco notes and a touch of leather. Structured tannins and balanced acidity merge with a subtle herbal note on the finish.
