Cardhu Distillery, previously called Cardow, is located high on the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley. Legally established in 1824 (but in production since 1811), the distillery was founded by John Cumming and his wife Helen, who reportedly created the first gallon of Cardhu Scotch. Valuing quality over quantity, the single malts produced at Cardhu caught the attention of John Walker & Sons, who bought the distillery in order to incorporate their exceptional whisky into blended Johnnie Walker products.

On the nose, full, harmonious aromas of heather, resin, nuts, and sweet honey are supported by notes of spicy wood and smoke. Medium-bodied and smooth, the balanced palate is sweet and fresh with a dry, smoky finish.
