Cacao Prieto was founded by Daniel Prieto Preston, an inventor and aerospace engineer, whose family has been farming organic cacao and sugar cane in the Dominican Republic for more than 100 years. Organic sugars from the Dominican Republic, as well as organic cacao beans from the family's Coralina farms, are transported to Red Hook, Brooklyn, where they are expertly transformed into artisanal rum, liqueur and chocolate.
Cacao Prieto "Widow Jane Wapsie Valley" Bourbon Whiskey is crafted from a mashbill of 60% Organic Wapsie Valley Corn (Mixed yellow and red Endosperm corn), 15% Heirloom Barley, 25% Rye. This rich, smooth and well-rounded bourbon is a farm-to-bottle spirit without the use of any genetically modified corn, grain, yeast, or enzyme, offering layers of almond, maple, unsweetened chocolate, bergamot, cinnamon and honey complemented by hints of brown spice and orange oil on the finish.
