Fattoria Cabanon was established in 1909 by Giovanni Mercandelli in the Oltrepo Pavese, just below Milan and Pavia in "ancient Piedmont" - a region that is now part of Lombardy. An unusual blend of organically grown varietals, Cabanon "Augurio" Oltrepo Pavese is composed mostly of croatina, which is complemented by the addition of barbera, pinot noir, syrah, cabernet and merlot. Floral, fruit-forward aromas are followed by a complex, medium-bodied palate brimming with black currant, anise, pepper and dried herbs. Lively acidity and round tannins are accented by a light mineral note on the finish.
