Bodegas Enrique Mendoza is located near the town of Alfàs Del Pi, about 45 miles from the city of Alicante, and is surrounded by breathtakingly landscaped gardens. Most of the vineyards are located near Villena at an average of 1200 feet elevation, with some parcels as high as 2100 feet. Traditional plantings include Monastrell and Moscatel, although recently they have experimented with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. They usually ferment their wines in stainless steel tanks and age in French oak, with long maceration (up to 28 days).
Bodegas Enrique Mendoza "La Tremenda" Monastrell is crafted from 100% matured vine Monastrell. The name "La Tremenda" refers to the name of the vineyard from which the grapes are grown and harvested. Bright ruby-red in color, La Tremenda Monastrell displays expressive notes of fresh black cherries and red berries mingled with hints of sweet spice, toast and cocoa. This accessible red offers a medium bodied palate with silky texture, modest tannins and balanced acidity. Hints of black plum and cherry lingers through the long, persistent finish. Pairs well with pork chops Normandy, Kobe beef, or parmesan crusted asparagus tips.
