This brand name refers to the Bear Flag Revolt of 1846, in which California settlers protested against the Mexican rule of the land. The symbol of the resistance was a bear, which eventually influenced the creation of California's state flag. Created by two young, ambitious winemakers, Bear Flag Wines are meant to represent the idea of freedom and rebellion that the flag once stood for. The bold, colorful imagery featured on the label was created by Eduardo Bertone, an illustrator from Madrid. Examine the label closely for fun, interesting characters and detailed line drawings.

This bright, off-dry red is a unique blend of Tempranillo, Touriga, Zinfandel and Alicante Bouschet. Soft, sweet notes of ripe berry fruit are enhanced by light tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering, peppery finish.
