During Prohibition, many barbershops throughout San Francisco were secretly used as a front for the sale of bootlegged spirits. Keeping with his family's tradition, Salvatore Cimino is not only an excellent barber, he also spends his weekends and evenings in Sonoma making unaged rye whiskey. Double distilled using two copper pot stills, Barbershop Rye is a true Prohibition-style spirit. The nose offers fragrant notes of green apple and ripe pear, backed by the unmistakeable aroma of rye grain. The palate is crisp and clean with notes of spice, black pepper and licorice, enhanced by a light sweetness reminiscent of powdered sugar.
