Azienda Agricola Grillo is a small, family-owned winery located in the hills of Colli Orientali del Friuli, Italy's most north-eastern wine region. While the winery does cultivate a variety of well-known varietals, they focus on preserving the indigenous grapes of the region, such as Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino, which were once in danger of becoming extinct.
Azienda Agricola Grillo Schioppettino is an aromatic, fruit-forward red displaying bright aromas of cherry, blackberry and violet, accented by a touch of dark chocolate. Eighteen months of oak maturation have lent depth and structure to the palate, where pure, focused fruit notes merge with delicate flavors of earth, vanilla and spice.
