Avuß Cachaša is single-sourced and pot distilled at a 3 generation farm about 4 hours from Rio, and comes in both 84 proof unaged Prata and the unique South American indigenous Amburana wood aged expression. Our mission is to challenge the perception of the cachaša category as a one-trick caipirinha pony through a terroir-driven artisanal product that expresses the 500 years of traditional production in Brasil.
Avuß was launched in New York City in April of 2013 at famed cocktail bar Milk & Honey after 3 years of collaboration between a family farm of Portuguese-Lebanese immigrants producing cachaša since 1923 and Nate, Pete and Mark - entrepreneurs in New York City and London. It is produced in the state of Rio de Janeiro on the corner between Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo by one of the few female distillers in Brazil.
A note on batching
As with fine wine, our product is produced in an annual growing season and will exhibit differences from batch to batch due to differences in water retention, cane composition and harvest factors. Each of our batches is clearly numbered on batch and bottle numbers ľ and once they are gone they are gone forever. We stand behind every bottle that we put into the market as being of the highest quality cachaša to be found throughout the world.
