Atsby Vermouth is the creation of Adam Ford, a wine and spirits enthusiast who had the vision of bringing the romance of vermouth back to the United States. Although inspired by traditional European vermouth, Ford worked closely with a certified sommelier to create a new, artisanal American vermouth heavily influenced by his 21st century knowledge of wine, spirits, herbs and food.
Atsby "Armadillo Cake" Vermouth is created by infusing Long Island Chardonnay with a blend of herbs, roots, barks and spices, including cardamom, quassia, wild celery, orange peel, Japanese shitake and nigella. The wine is then blended with small-batch apple brandy and dark caramel, hand-spun from Indian Muscovado. The result is rich, earthy and delightfully bittersweet, with intricate notes of berry, dried herbs, citrus and spice which linger through the finish.
