Fifty years ago, as Jamaica was approaching independence, several hand-selected barrels of Appleton Estate Rum were specifically set aside in anticipation of  the country's 50th Anniversary. These rums were stored in a special aging area in the estate and monitored over the years by two Master Blenders - first by Owen Tulloch and then by the current Master Blender, Joy Spence.

Appleton Estate 50 Year Old is the world's oldest barrel aged rum, carefully matured in handcrafted American oak casks for a minimum of fifty full years. An intriguing nose of dried fruit, vanilla, toasted walnuts and cinnamon leads to a rich, strikingly complex palate boasting notes of caramel, orange peel, coffee, nutmeg and hazelnut. Hints of brown sugar and cocoa emerge on the powerful, oak-driven finish.
