The Olivares estate vineyard, Finca Hoya de Santa Ana, is located in northwestern Jumilla, where high altitude and incredibly sandy soil distinguish it from the rest of the appellation. During the Phylloxera epidemic of the late nineteenth century, these sandy soils were not a hospitable environment for the louse, therefore the vines were not affected and were able to survive without being grafted to American rootstock. "Altos de la Hoya" Monastrell was created from these ungrafted vines, some of which date back to 1872.

Olivares "Altos de la Hoya" Monastrell delivers a spicy, fruit-forward nose of raspberry, dried flowers and allspice, backed by a touch of earth. The palate offers sweet, tangy red fruit, balanced by lively acidity, structured tannins and a bold mineral note.
