Mastiha liqueur is an ancient Mediterranean tradition that has been around for over 2,000 years. The Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Genoese and Ottomans were all fans of Mastiha for its many uses. To create YA Mastiha Liqueur, the local farmers use traditional hand tools to cut the tree bark and let the sap drip for 15-20 days. It is then collected and meticulously cleaned by hand before being ready for distillation. The distillate is blended with sugar, alcohol and mineral water to create a rich, distinctive spirit with pronounced notes of pine, anise, fresh herbs and hint of citrus.
