The earliest versions of the Aviation included Creme de Violette, lending a distinctive flavor and the dusty purple color of the sky at dusk. Due to the rarity of this ingredient, however, later mixologists were forced to adapt without this critical component. While we recommend experimenting with proportions to find the balance of maraschino, creme de violette and lemon juice that you prefer, this is a great place to start.
